BlackBerry Storm 2 9520 Unlocked Cell Phone, 3.2 MP Camera, GPS, MicroSD Slot (Black)

BlackBerry Storm2 9520

The original BlackBerry Storm featured the first touch screen. The Storm2 has improved from that model. The BlackBerry Storm2 has wifi, 2gs of on board (instead of 1 like the original Storm), and the ability to house a 32 gig card (it comes with a 16 gig card). Fans of the BlackBerry Storm will definitely enjoy this phone because it has improved many of the main faults.

The touch screen is more responsive and typing is easier. Since using this phone revolves around those two things, this is great news. The phone looks a lot like storm1 with some small cosmetic changes. The 3.2 megapixel camera made it into the upgraded phone without any changes. The navigational buttons, however, are now part of the screen on storm2. This kind of streamlines things and does away with unnecessary buttons.

The phone’s other features include a sim card slot, worldphone capabilities, and a sim card to put in the sim card slot. One complaint would be the camera. It makes kind of grainy videos. Most BlackBerry users care more about wifi and emails then the camera, so this may not be too much of a setback. The 480 by 360 resolution, 3.2 in touch screen is easy to read and responsive. The phone has an accelerometer that flips the view when you flip phone. That feature has received more speed on this model. Another thing about the screen is that it doesn’t click on the new storm. You still hear a click, but the sound is electronic.

You can now hit two keys on the keyboard at the same time. This is a great improvement from the original Storm because it allows you to easier capitalize letters. The phone also predicts words fairly pretty well. There is a learning curve to keyboard, but it’s not too big. If you have used on screen keyboards before, you should catch on quick.

In the menu you often hit the menu item above or below the one you wanted, but the screen is overall good. The web browser loads pages quicker then last storm and allows you to copy and paste text by highlighting it. The browser doesn’t have flash content, but will play youtube videos. Appworld lets you download apps so you can play with Facebook and flicker apps on your business phone. City ID will let you know what area callers are calling from which helps with unidentified calls. There is also instant messenger support.

The BlackBerry has come a long way from the days where its keyboard got worn out; it didn’t have a touch screen, and featured emails as its only novelty. The BlackBerry says strong with emails, but also moves into applications and the internet like other smart phones. This allows business people to have just one phone even if they want a smart phone and a business phone.
