panasonic-150-inch-plasma-tvFlat screen TVs are getting incredible popularity because of their large screen, clear and crisp image and better picture and sound quality. If you are planning to buy one, there are innumerable choices for you. Also you have to consider several other factors like whether to buy the largest flat screen TV or a smaller one, LCD or LED, and so on. Let’s see some of the factors.

Screen Size

First of all, you will have to decide upon the screen size. If you are planning to keep the TV in a smaller room, where viewers will sit near it, a smaller TV is perfect. But if the room is larger, you will need a bigger screen so that it can be clearly watched from every corner of the room, wherever viewers sit. If you are on a budget, you better buy a big screen TV and save by leaving out additional features you may not require.

You will also need to consider the physical marks of the TV. If you have an entertainment system or TV stand, and you want your new TV to fit into it, ensure that the dimensions of the new TV are correct for the space it will accommodate.

Type of TV

Once you decide upon the screen size of the TV you want to buy, next you should think upon the tech side of the TV. The least expensive but most popular flat screen TV is a LCD TV. You will have to understand that all LCD TVs don’t always give the best picture quality; however, they do give a very nice picture at their cost, because of which they are recommendable.

If you are in search of a better picture quality, you must consider LED-backlit LCD TV (aka LED TV). These TVs are normally slimmer than other flat-screen TVs and give a brighter image with deeper blacks than standard LCDs.

If you are looking for an extremely good picture, consider a plasma TV. Plasma TVs’ pictures have brilliant colors and dark blacks. But their downside is they are costlier than traditional LCDs. Even, they are available only in larger sizes (i.e. over 42 inches). However, if your space and budget allows, consider a plasma TV.

Much fuss goes on about the resolution when flat screen TVs are discussed. Here you should know certain things. 720p is the minimum resolution though it is considered HD. 1080p is now the commonest resolution and is called Full HD. Lately TV manufacturers have introduced 4K Ultra HD TVs which is at present the highest resolution available with double the horizontal and vertical resolution of 1080p. All this doesn’t indicate that 720p is bad; actually, it is perfect for smaller sets. For bigger screens you will have to ensure that the resolution is 1080 or higher.

Extra Features

If you are on a budget, you can skip the high-end extra features like the internet connectivity and 3D because they add significantly to the price without much of day-to-day benefits. Any extra feature adds up to the price. So, it is advisable to choose only those features which you will use regularly.
