/*Comments Off on 4 Important Things to Check Before Buying Refurbished iPhones */

refurbished iPhonesHaving an iPhone makes a big difference to your status and phone experience; therefore, almost everyone dreams of having an iPhone. However, buying an iPhone is not easy because it’s quite expensive. Still, there is a great solution to this problem, and it’s buying a used iPhone.

Used or refurbished iPhones come for a low price and you can fulfill your wish to be the owner of an iPhone. But is the deal worth it? Let’s know some facts.

1. Check for Hardware Damage

Almost every used iPhone has normal signs of damage like scratches or dings on back and sides. But you should check whether there is any major damage like problem with the 3D Touch sensor or Touch ID, big scratches on screen or camera lens or any other major hardware damage since that can be a big issue. Ensure that the phone hasn’t gotten wet by checking the water damage sensor. Test buttons, camera and other hardware.

2. Ensure that the iPhone is Not Stolen

You certainly don’t want a stolen iPhone. Apple stops activation of stolen iPhones by new users with the help of its Activation Lock tool. It also used to provide a simple website for checking the status of Activation Lock, but removed it later, thus making it difficult to check if a used iPhone is stolen. But still you can do it with the following method:

  • Visit https://getsupport.apple.com
  • Select “iPhone”
  • Select “Battery, Power & Charging”
  • Select “Unable to Power On”
  • Select “Send in for Repair”

Enter the IMEI/MEID number of the phone in the 3rd box. This number can be given to you by the seller or can be found in the phone in Settings -> General -> About.

The information is useful though it may not cover every single phone or potential theft scenario.

3. Check the Battery

Remember that users can’t replace the battery of an iPhone. So, you should be sure that the battery of the used iPhone you are buying is strong. If the phone has been used lightly, it should have a decent battery life. However, if it’s more than a year old, you should check the battery. Inquire about the battery life as much as you can or see if they can install a new battery.

4. Check the Storage Capacity

Though the low price is alluring, keep in mind that used iPhones are typically not the latest models and so, have less storage space. The latest top-of-the-line iPhones provide up to 256GB of storage for photos, apps, music and other data, while some models that come for a low price offer as small as 16GB of space. Keep in mind that you shouldn’t get less than 32GB.

Follow these tips to ensure that you can be a proud owner of an iPhone.
