Nokia Lumia 825 – Should We Expect Nokia’s First Phablet?

/*Comments Off on Nokia Lumia 825 – Should We Expect Nokia’s First Phablet? */

nokia-lumia-phablet-825It seems that Nokia company is getting a little bit aggressive with their Lumia line-up, since they have unveiled 3 smartphones in a short period of time. Well, that’s not the end. Besides Lumia 925, Lumia 625 and Lumia 1020, what we will apparently meet at the smartphone market is Lumia 825 with 5.2-inch display. Obviously, the company is working on its first phablet which will be, as the rumors suggest, based on Windows Phone 8 GDR update. According to the reports, Microsoft is going to release Windows Phone 8 GDR3 update as soon as possible and that will allow full HD displays and quad-core processors on Windows Phone 8 platform. The rumoured gadget, Nokia Lumia 825 is likely to be the successor to the Lumia 820 and it will probably be a mid-range device, since it is expected to boast not full-HD, but a 720 HD screen. Nokia Lumia is rumored to be powered by, obviously, quad-core processor and the expected chipset might be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 400, clocked ad 1.2 GHz. The company has taken the whole Microsoft software’s ecosystem on its shoulder and it seems that Windows Phone smartphones will finally gather some momentum thanks to Nokia’s growing Lumia line-up. Quad-core processors have been supported by Android and other platforms for a while now, so Windows Phone platform seemed to lose the battle. However, the launch of quad-core phones will probably change the positions on the smartphone market. At this moment, Nokia has launched 8 smartphones powered by Windows Phone 8 platform: Lumia 1020, Lumia 920, Lumia 820, Lumia 720, Lumia 820, Lumia 520, Lumia 925 and the Lumia 625.

If all these rumors hold true, Lumia 825 would become the first phablet by the Finnish giant Nokia. Obviously, the company has been developing smartphones with larger screens for sometime now. Also, the photo that leaked last month suggests that it will be the phablet with the thinnest bezel we have seen. Nokia Lumia 825 phablet is going to be the direct competitor to Sony Xperia Z Ultra and Samsung’s Galaxy Mega series. Nokia’s first phablet is expected in about two months, in October 2013. Also, the second phablet is expected to be launched by February 2014, featuring Lytro-style camera, Pelican Imaging’s 16 lens array and larger display (up to 6 inches).
